Word 2007: Save as PDF or XPS

December 22, 2006

We wanted to use the SharePoint 2007 document converter feature to convert Word documents into PDF or XPS (wta is het) formats. Such a document converter is missing in SharePoint but Microsoft provides an Office add-in that allows you to export and save Word documents to PDF or XPS formats. This is not only the case for Word but you can also convert files that are created using the following Office programs: Access 2007, Excel 2007, InfoPath 2007, OneNote 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Publisher 2007 and Visio 2007. This download also allows you to send documents as e-mail attachments in the form of PDF and XPS formats in a subset of these programs. You can download the Office add-in here.

After downloading and installing the add-in you will find the option "Publish a copy of the document as PDF or XPS file" when you click File > Save As.

Next, in the Publish as PDF or XPS window you can specify in what format you want to publish your document.
