SharePoint 2007: My Site - Beta1TR

April 29, 2006

In SharePoint 2003 there already was a My Site for every user. My Site is a personal space to save your documents and share work with other users. In SharePoint 2007 you'll get an improved version of My Site. The public view is now called a profile page. The profile page contains information that you want to share with other users. For example: your user profile, links and sites. The profile page will show your most recent shared documents displayed per site, your colleagues and the sites you are a member of.

The My Site is a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services version 3.0 site that can do everything an ordinary SharePoint site can. You can edit your user profile and add information you want to share with other users like your colleagues. With every bit of information you enter, you can choose which group you want to share it with, for example everyone, your manager, workgroup or colleagues. This way you could make sure your manager knows your birthday and your colleagues don't. Then you won't have to buy a beer for everyone, but you will get a present from the company :-).

The private part of your My Site is now called My Home and contains information of interest to you.
