Tech·Ed 2007 - Day 1: The Setup

Published 03 June 07 08:42 AM

Greetings from sunny (and humid) Orlando, Florida!  This year's TechEd confab takes place in the somewhat "Giger-esque" looking Orange County Convention Center (known on the mean streets of, well, International Drive as "The O.C.C.C." -- which is not likely the name of a Fox TV series spin-off of "The O.C."). This is the first time I've been back to the OC3 since my days at CA, and the company's run of CA WORLD conferences in Orlando from 2001-2002.

Nonetheless, I stand here at one of our two demo stations in the Yellow TLC (specifically SEC - 9: Server and Domain Isolation), where I'm finishing up my demo install (an updated version of the demo we showed back at RSA in February).

Here's a picture of the booth (nice and clean, eh?):

That laptop on the lower left is the very laptop I'm bloggin' off of.  Yup...pretty geeky.

Moving on.

I've got the SDI Demo kit installed and running, so it's time to test the scenarios.  I don't think there will be any issues, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

More to come from the land of oranges, animated mice, and IT Pro conferences.

It's good to see that the TLC is up and running, but I'm sorry you're still on that cheap carpeting.  Is there any padding this year?

Remember to wear very comfortable shoes.  With air-pillow insoles.  And clean socks.

Is that a picture of you on the booth frame in the upper-left-hand corner?

Thanks Dick!

It's the standard half-a-millimeter of carpet over 2 feet of concrete.  I wouldn't have it any other way <g>

Unfortunately, no.

A concrete floor is a solid foundation for your presentation
