Something I stumbled on today while rummaging around on the technet
site.

You can add the technet search to your list of search providers in IE7.

So you can either go and search for something on the technet site and
watch for the link on the right hand side, or click on the search drop
down, select "Find more providers" then in the "Create your own" option
on the right hand side, paste in the following

http://search.technet.microsoft.com/search/opensearchdescription.aspx

call it technet search (or whatever you prefer) and then click install
and you can now directly search technet.
